Our elders were a most important part of our culture Ñ and still are to this day. Long ago, an elder was a person who had special wisdom and knew how to share it with others. Today we say that every older person is an elder. This viewpoint recognizes the fact that everyone has learned throughout their life and so has something to share.

Our elders have special knowledge and wisdom, especially about our culture. Elders are among the most respected of our people. Today we still welcome their insight and have great respect for them.
