Long ago, the old people tell us giants and monsters lived in our country.
There were giant people who used to eat our people until one married a
Tahltan woman.

| Most lakes had some type of monster
living in them. Alkali Lake used to be the home of a giant frog. Every
time the frog rose up, the wind blew hard. It blew so hard that old
Annie Fowler could not stand up. Some very large animal with a large
neck was seen in Buckley Lake. Hooster Lake had one. But it left.
You can see the mark made by its long tail.
Our people were afraid of the monsters, so they stayed away from
lakes.
